4 Juices and a Shake, mmmm

Happy End of December!

Sometimes the same green juice gets a tad boring.  This week I’ve got four juices and a shake I’m making to ring in the new year in health.

I got the recipes from Juices101. The author broke down the amazing Blue Print Cleanse juices for us to DIY at home.

Green Apple

Ingredients:

3 Romaine leafs
5 Celery ribs
1 Cucumber
3 Kale leafs
5 Parsley ribs
2 granny smith Apple
5 tbsp Spinach
1 oz Lemon juice

Pineapple Apple Mint

Ingredients:

1/3 Pineapple
2 granny smith Apple
4 tbsp Mint (finely chopped)
1 oz Lime juice

Spicy Lemonade

Ingredients:

424 ml Filtered Water
3 oz Lemon
0.5 tsp Cayenne pepper
1 tbsp Agave Nectar / Honey

Carrot Apple Beet Ginger Lemon

Ingredients:

3 Carrots
1 Fuji Apple
2 Beet
4 Celery ribs
1.5 tbsp Ginger
0.5 oz Lemon juice

and the shake

Cashew Nut Milk

Ingredients:

467ml Filtered water
4.5oz Raw Cashews
1 tbsp Agave Nectar / Honey
1 tsp Vanilla bean (finely chopped)
1 tsp ground Cinnamon

Three tips from clean living experts Kris Carr, Kimberly Synder, Zoe Sakoutis and Erica Huss Jones

These ladies all are experts in clean living and glowing from within.

While each has her own take on living a healthy, clean life, they also share some basic tenant of how to care for your body with food.

  1. Drink hot water with lemon in the morning. The warm water helps with digestion and lemon helps get things moving.  Add cayenne for an extra boost.
  2. Green juices are where it’s at. Juicing is amazing and green juices are that much better.  Fruit juices pack in natural sugar so you don’t want to overdo it and create an imbalance with too much fruit.
  3. Eat fruit alone.  Apparently it stimulates our bodies in ways that complicates digestion with other foods.

Basic green juice:

—> some kale+some spinach+an apple+half a lemon+ginger root (~ 1 inch)+ cucumber= perfection

Water Pills= Bad Idea

You know how your gut tells you something is bad?  Well, my gut definitely told me something about water pills is bad.

Reasons I don’t trust “water pills”

  1. Why would I want to flush my water out? I’m constantly drinking water to stay healthy and hydrated.  Ridding it just sound counter-intuitive.
  2. Whole Foods doesn’t sell them.  Vapid I know, but they’ve got a lot at stake so if they aren’t selling something there MUST be a reason.
  3. No reliable research. I really can not find anything reliable to support the claims that I will be less bloated and not endanger my health.

Yeah. That’s what I think about this.
